September 19, 2013 by Alan Binley
Saturday 21st September ALMC Motor Club’s next event will take place the now annual Autumn Endurance Trial, the event which is the second Endurance Trial this year will bring competitors on a loop of tests in counties Louth and Meath. Headquarters for the event is The Snailbox, Kilmoon Cross just outside Ashbourne and the event will be have a new clerk of the course Cathal Brady who has played a significant role on the organising team of the stages rally in recent years. Cathal has set out a challenging and well thought out set of tests for the event with something for every type of endurance competitor. “The event will visit some new sites and of course some of our old favourites including Fairyhouse and Whiteriver Kart track all within easy reach of the event HQ. The selectives will be flowing but will test the driver and co-drivers abilities and it will be a true endurance event, but it will not be a car breaker and unlike the Spring event there will be no tests in the dark” commented Cathal at the launch of the regulations for the event. Competitors will run on two new selectives in Fairyhouse Racecourse, one of which is over 6 km, and the venue will be visited a number of times during the day.
The event will feature five classes ranging from cars built to Endurance specification in class one with Navigation cars up to and over 1400cc covered by classes two and three with front and rear wheel driver Retro cars accommodated in classes four and five. The event kicks off with documentation and scrutiny from eight on Saturday morning with drivers briefing at 10.30 and first car away at 11. The first car is expected back at the Snailbox at 19.00 with the winners announced shortly after. Regulations for the event are now available to download from the club website almc.ie with entries due to close on Wednesday 18th September with it restricted to a maximum of seventy cars.
