BREAKING NEWS: Quinn impresses in Mini Challenge début

April 26, 2014 by Fergus Brennan

Former Junior Irish Rallycross Champion Simon Quinn made an impressive return to the cockpit this weekend, at Donington Park. After a four year break from racing Quinn is competing in the UK Mini Challenge in the JCW (John Copper Works) class, which is the fastest of the two Mini Cooper classes in the championship. Running with the IN:MINI team, in last years championship winning car, Quinn put in an excellent qualifying performance and is now looking forward to three challenging Mini Cooper races over today and tomorrow.

Having previously only competed in Rallycross Simon had never taken part in qualifying prior to Saturday’s session, but quickly adapted to his new experience to post a sensational second best time and book a front row start for his first ever Circuit race. More new experiences lie ahead as the nineteen year old faces into his first race, as he has never raced over a distance as long as the copper races and he has never been part of a grid as big as the twenty seven car Mini Challenge field.

To follow Simon’s progress over this weekend and the rest of the series you can follow him on facebook at Simon Quinn Racing and his twitter account will also be operating shortly.
