Declan’s Charity Multi-Venue Autotest
August 6, 2012 by Tim Faulkner
Its back ! ! The next in the sequnce of well regarded Irish Multi-venue autotests.
Declan, our ‘scariest Clerk of the Course ever’ (James Wilson; 2011 winner) has his own personal take on these events ready to go again !
He was asked a couple of years ago what was going on because a ‘crop circle’ appeared on satellite imagry of the field used for one test! Some old & some new venues plus the various social aspects. And a BIG pay-off the charity (substantial four figure pay-outs generated) Its the combination of elements and experience behind this event that make it such a success and one not to be missed !
A stage rally man standing beside me at last Sunday’s Birr event was enthused enough to state ” The best kept secret in Irish Motorsport ” Ask Kingers ; he had a ball last year !
Compete ! Marshall ! Get involved !

TDC FAILTE ITINERARY / MULTI-VENUE UPDATE 20.08.2012
TDC Failte would like to provide you with this short itinerary of the delights and entertainment that have been laid on for your enjoyment on Sunday next at our Declan’s Charity Multi-Venue Autotest.
Your day will start with breakfast and sign-on. Optional banter and slagging will no doubt be well present.
Swifly followed by a customary run around the adjoining lane(s) and yard.
Barretstown; famous for the Paul Newman connection is included. Twice. I missed it last year, and I believe it had to be seen to be believed. Even better in the driving. ‘Mega !’
There are also farm lanes.
And adding to the variety, and to put manners on you ; farm yards.
A couple of quarries.
& one of those ones that you wonder should we be there ? …..
As in the surface is smoother than Mondello ! !
& we cant refuse because we were invited ! ! ( did your mother never teach you it was bad manners to turn down an invitation ? )
That field ! Its a wonder anyone got a go last year . Ian McCandless only goes to marshall so he can see how many pirouettes it is possible to put the Porker through ! ! ( as in last year himself and son Mark were at something more than 3+ after the rain turned it into an ice-rink):
Lunch ! !.
And then go and do it all over again.
And/or something very similar.
19 Times, in all, are lined up for your delectation ! !
Followed by Barbaque , results, and yet more craic, banter and slagging off.
And Tim gets to go home with a run over Sallygap.
It sounds like a fantasy, but we can assure you its not a work of fiction ! !
