Fords and Juniors for April Kirkistown Meeting
April 20, 2014 by Ian Lynas
THE battle for top honours in the Northern Ireland Formula Ford Championship and stars of the future in the Ginetta Junior Ireland Series will be in action along with a top class programme at Kirkistown circuit on Saturday 26 April 2014, organised by the 500 Motor Racing Club of Ireland.
Two rounds of the Formula Fords which have the support of ex-F1 driver Eddie Irvine and at the first meeting last month it was Noel Dunne and Niall Murray who had wins apiece with a strong challenge expected this time from top local Adrian Pollock.
The recent championship meeting at Mondello Park witnessed the two opening rounds of the Ginetta Junior Championship and there were race wins going to Northern Ireland drivers Johnnie Mulholland and Jack Finlay. They are both looking forward to racing on their home circuit and we should see at least another local win. They will have to contend with a trio of impressive newcomers in James Roe, Jordan Dempsey and series leader Wilson Thompson however!
Saloons and GTs combine and expect very close racing while Formula Libre is set to have first meeting action at the County Down venue; drivers to watch Stanley Watson and Mark Crawford.
Roadsports saw Jim Larkham dominate at the opening meeting of the season at the wheel of his new Radical, a double winner and he will be seeking much of the same.
N.I. Sevens produce very close and entertaining racing and Alan Davidson is the driver to beat. This time round the Roadsports will not be chasing championship points.
Kart fans will be pleased to know that there will be races for the 125cc and 250cc karts.
