Ferrari ace, Matt Griffin is hoping to continue his strong form in round 2 of the European Le Man Series held at the technically challenging track of Imola, Italy this coming weekend
Northamptonshire based Griffin will join team mates, Duncan Cameron and Italian Mirko Venturi racing the familiar Ferrari 458 GTE with Italian team, AF Corse.
Griffin who is current European Le Mans Series Champion will be hoping to repeat his victory at this track 12 months ago, which was the springboard to his championship challenge.
“I am really excited to be heading back to Imola this weekend, its one of my favourite tracks. Last year I managed to put the car on pole position and win the race, I feel that was what really put us on the road to clinching the championship.”
Round 1 of the ELMS Championship, held at Silverstone earlier in the year, saw the team mates win the race after an extremely competitive four-hour race. Heading to Imola this weekend as championship leaders they are hoping for more of the same in round 2.
“We had a great weekend at Silverstone and while I realise that the competition will be even tougher this weekend, I am confident we can be really strong again. The Ferrari 458 is really suited to Imola and my team AF Corse always do a great job so I think we definitely have the chance to fight for the win.”
All the main action will take place on Sunday 18th May 2014 with qualifying due to start at 09.45 CET, there will be an autograph session at 11.30 CET and the 4 hour race will start at 14.00 CET.
There will be live TV coverage of the race on Motors TV at 12.45 GMT and again at 15.00 GMT on Sunday. Radio coverage is from radiolemans.com.
