Jack Kennedy Update- with Jim Halligan
February 15, 2014 by Jim Halligan
The WSBK 2014 season kicks off at Phillip Island in Australia on the 23/2/14 and Ireland’s Jack Kennedy is poised for his second year in the WSBK paddock. Riding for the PTR Honda team in the Supersport 600 class in 2014, a move from the Riva- Moto team having taken place over the winter puts Kennedy in a team that has been constantly at the top of this class with the likes of Sam Lowes and Eugene Laverty- and should see him constantly running at the front, certainly if his testing performances on the new machine are anything to go by. A change to BITUBO Suspension and slightly different electronic package should see the tyres last the full distance at optimum performance- something he suffered slightly with last year. And what a line up he faces this year with the most winning rider ever in this class Kenan Sofuoglu on top of his game riding for Kawasaki, Jules Cluzel riding for the championship winning team from last year on a Yamaha R6 will be a out to prove a point having been dropped by the Crescent Suzuki team at the end of last year after some really impressive rides and he will be the dark horse in this championship battle. PATA Honda are back again with Michael Van Der Mark and Lorenzo Zanetti also back for a second year in this class. This is surprising as I would have seen Van Der Mark being moved to the superbike class after his Suzuka 8 Hour win last year for Honda as this is the most prestigious race for any of the Japanese factories and guaranties him a place at HONDA for life if any of the past winners are anything to go by. This is shaping up to be one of the toughest years in super sport for a long time but I think Jack will surprise a lot of people and pay back his loyal sponsors , Dawn Int, VTL, Dixon Int, Megabikes and Caffery Int.
