Jamie Masterson: New season ..New bike.. Its all go for the JMR squad!!
February 13, 2013 by Jamie Masterson
With the new season looming and D day getting closer, it’s all go to get both me and the bike 110 percent for the 2013 championship. I’m still undecided exactly which championship to compete in, but should be wiser in the next few weeks.. Last week I travelled over to Spain with Wolsley Coulter to Circuito Cartegena for a week test to try get to grips with the new machine. All didn’t go to plan though, as after only a handful of laps my superbike engine suffered a massive failure when the crank broke!! I was gutted to say the least, before my week had started it was already over!! But with thanks to Stevie Harnett from NDM in Dublin they kindly lent me there superstock CBR 600 for the rest of the week, I’m really thankful to Stevie for helping me out in my time of need!!
Still, I had a ball over in sunny Spain and clocked up a couple of hundred kms on the lil Supersport bike, with some super tuition from Wolsley who is multiple NW200 winner and former British 250cc champion- it has made a massive difference to my riding style and confidence!! Deffo well recommended to everybody! In the week we competed in a 2 hour team endurance race with 24 teams from Ireland and England. I teamed up with Thomas ‘Boom Boom’ ‘Grady on the IOI Racing Endurance team where after 2 long hours we finished 5th overall and were the first Irish team home! The first international win for the new IOI racing team!!
Already have the engine stripped down and hope to be ready for the first round in march… Hopefully things will turn around and start going in my favour for the weeks to come!!
