Masterson aims for top step again this season!
March 29, 2014 by Jamie Masterson
With the new season looming, I’m focusing on just one thing- victory in 2014. After a poor season in 2013, I’m looking to bounce back and get back to my winning ways. With a mixture of bad luck and low team morale we struggled all year to get to terms with the big AMA Suzuki but now with a new bike, new sponsors, full fitness and a positive attitude, I am going places this season.
Late last year we travelled to the UK to pick up our weapon of choice for this season, a tidy MSS Kawasaki built ZX10R, which I believe to be the best bike at the moment, even in Superstock trim. We got a brief run out at last years Sunflower where I gelled with the bike almost instantly, so a full stripdown over the winter and now just putting the finishing touches to her before she gets over to DLM racing HQ for some top tuning.
I’m also delighted to have Dublin’s top gym STUDIO M sponsor me. With personal training 5 nites a week, my fitness level have gone through the roof and I’ve lost 2 stone in weight so that shoud help the kwakers punch out of those tight corners! It has been a hard winter’s work training every night for the last 4 months- sometimes 6 days a week, but it will payoff as fitness plays a huge part in any form of motorsports and I believe now being on top of my fitness and lighter than a 16 year old its going to help bring me to success this year.
The plan for this season is to compete in the Adelaide Masters series again this season with a few ISB rounds thrown in to help me get up to speed on the big 10. I’ve prepared myself to go backwards a bit before I go forwards till I come to grips with the new bike fully. Most importantly I have registered for the Thundersport GB championship in the UK and hope to get across the water to compete in the GP1 Superstock class over there, these run on some of the top UK circuits that see BSB events take place and have some of the UK’s fastest non professional riders competing. So I look forward to the new challenges ahead, Watch this space as your going to see a lot more of Flash #22 in 2014…
