Nulty to swap microphone and laptop for overalls and helmet for Bishopcourt ITCC debut!
March 19, 2014 by Dave Mint
Mondello Commentator Leo Nulty will return to the track when the ITCC visits the ultra fast Bishopscourt circuit in Northern Ireland on May 10/11. Nulty is a former saloon car racer having won races in Ritmos, Unos and Puntos before moving to Historics in his famous fibreglass Imp. For his first foray into the ITCC, he will drive the ex Race2Race Honda Integra in the Touring Class of the Yokohama supported series.
“With the buzz around the paddock at the first Mondello race meeting last weekend, I found myself getting the urge to go racing again.” he explained, “Unfortunately, my comittments with Mondello.tv mean I can’t race at the Mondello rounds so when Barry Rabbitt offered me his Integra and suggested doing Bishopscourt, I jumped at it! I have never driven a fwd racecar with over 200bhp before nor have I driven the track- but how hard can it be? I am not taking it too seriously, but that said, I won’t be there to make up the numbers!”
Nulty, who is Sales & Marketing Manager at Mondello Park, has not raced since the end of 2011 and will test the car at Mondello before the event.
“I have driven a number of Leo’s car’s before so it is probably about time he drove one of mine!”, said Barry Rabbitt, “If we get a test in before the race weekend, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t come home with a trophy!”
The Leinster Motor Club run race meeting will run on May 10th & 11th and also includes races for Formula Vee, Formula Sheane, Global GTs, Strykers, HRCA, HRCA Pre ’55 and an All Ireland Fiesta Trophy Race.
