December 5, 2012 by Alan Tyndall
Tyndall Productions, the creators of the popular RPM MOTORSPORTS TV programme which has been aired on UTV for 22 years, and which was also seen on TG4 and Setanta Sports in Ireland and on Motors TV internationally in 2012, have added three new DVD titles to their extensive motorsporting catalogue in time for the Christmas market.
THREE TARMAC REVIEW DVDs
In addition to TARMAC 2012, (the story of this years Irish Tarmac Rally Championship), Tyndall Productions have compiled from their archive TARMAC 1991, TARMAC 1992, and TARMAC 1993. All of 4 new double DVDs are over 3hrs. 30m. in length and all are available online at £14.99p + P&P from www.rpm-motorsport.com
TARMAC 2012
Great Gass!
Darren Gass wasn’t the 2012 season favourite with only a S10 Impreza at his disposal, but wins in Galway, on the Circuit of Ireland and on the Ulster events ensured the Armagh drivers first Tarmac title. Other highlights in this 3hr. 40m. DVD are Garry Jenning’s (Donegal) and Daragh O’Riordan’s (Killarney & Cork) wins, and you cant beat the Modified men for spectacle.
TARMAC 1991
Kenny Does the Double!
Kenny McKinstry’s ambition in 1001 was to win Group N but by the end of the third round he led both the Production category and the series! A hired Group A Sierra Cosworth on the last two rounds gave him enough points to became the only person in Irish Tarmac history to win both the Group N and outright crowns! This 3hr. 35m. DVD also shows Colin McRae’s (Subaru Legacy) Circuit and Manx wins, Austin MacHale (BMW M3) winning Galway, and Bertie Fisher (Sierra Cosworth) wining the Ulster and Killarney events.
TARMAC 1992
Fisher’s Sensational Subaru!
Prodrive’s Subaru Legacy made everything obsolete when Kenny McKinstry won in Galway. By the Circuit of Ireland Bertie Fisher also had a Legacy but the Subaru’s retired handing Frank Meagher (2WD Cosworth) a memorable win. But as you will see in this 3hr. 22m. DVD the Tarmac Championship was always going to be won by the sensational Subaru and Bertie sealed the deal in Cork and Killarney.
TARMAC 1993
Fisher’s Legacy
Austin MacHale (Toyota GT4) had plans to beat the Subarus and he did just that in Galway and on the Circuit, but by the end of the year fortune favoured Bertie Fisher’s Legacy. This 3hr. 25m. DVD also features great drives from Malcolm Wilson (Ulster), Kenny McKinstry (Manx), Richard Burns (Manx), and James Cullen (Cork).
CHRISTMAS BOXES!
Alternatively the entire TARMAC REVIEW series is now available in 4 Box Sets. Each volume covers five years of the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship, (5 DVDs), and gives the rally fan in excess of seventeen and a half hours viewing!
