Smith eager for top ten push at Snetterton 300

Redstone Racing’s Aron Smith heads to Snetterton 300 circuit in the hunt for a top ten push this weekend (11/12 August), as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship visits the popular venue situated in Norfolk for rounds 16, 17 & 18, of Britain’s prestigious saloon car championship.

After a strong start to the season saw the Motorsport Ireland Young Driver of the Year establish himself well within the top-ten on a regular basis, 2011 AirAsia Renault Clio Cup Vice Champion Smith, had the odds stacked firmly against him last time out at Croft circuit.

A slow puncture would halt the young Dubliners round 13 charge whilst running in eighth position, seeing him drop two places to tenth at the chequered flag, before two DNF’s ended the young Irishman’s weekend in Yorkshire.

Currently situated in 15th position in the ultra competitive championship ahead of this weekend’s visit to Snetterton, Smith remains determined to take to the 2.99 mile track in style after proving to be competitive on the technically challenging circuit by storming to victory in round 12 of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup just a year ago.

“With such a long gap since Croft, it feels like the start of the season once again,” explained Smith. “Although to be fair, it has given me a chance to have a bit of a break and refocus on what we need to achieve. Realistically I’d like to start the weekend off in the top ten and see where we can get to from there.”

“I had one of my best races ever in the Clio Cup here last year and managed to get some pre-season testing in so hopefully that’ll stand me in good stead for the weekend. I’m dying to get back out on track!”

Rounds 16, 17 & 18 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship will get underway with qualifying on Saturday, 11th August at 15:15, with race one commencing on Sunday, 12th August at 12:00. All races will be aired live on ITV4 and ITV4 HD.
