Jim Hutcheson's Spaceframe Mk 1 Escort had a great scrap with Connaire Finn's Ginetta.
It’s unusual to be making only the first trip of the year to Kirkistown at the end of June but that’s the way the calendar worked out this year so on the longest day of the year I was headed north. Having been unable to secure a lift on the Saturday morning it was out with the bike for a 7am start. Good time was made despite a stop for fuel near... [Read more...]

I got soaked taking this one of Adam Mcaulay- but it was worth it.
Fresh off the plane from Spain I was picked up in the truck on Friday afternoon for the long enough drive to Bishopscourt. I had a good feed at lunchtime as I figured there would be limited options for eating once we crossed the border, Holstein and O’Brien slug it out for ITCC honours. plus the fact I had very little sterling didn’t help matters.... Nick Mason's 1935 Aston Martin "Ulster" is one of the many valuable historic cars which will compete this week.
Some of the world’s most expensive cars were on show today at the Mansion House in Dublin as they arrived in Ireland ahead of the Irish Festival of Speed this weekend in Limerick and we sent Cregor Elliott along to take a few pictures! The four cars; a 1936 ERA R10B worth in excess of €1.5million, a 1935 ERA R5B “Remus” worth in excess of €1.5million,... [Read more...]

Cregor was impressed with Mondello's Corporate Menu!
The sun shone brightly and the weather was as hot as the on track action for the 45th birthday of Mondello Park recently. The packed racecard was again broadcast live on the internet via Mondello.TV, hopefully this will become a regular feature of car racing in Ireland. I arrived just before 10 where qualifying was well underway and after changing into... [Read more...]

If this one doesn't make you laugh, there's something wrong with you!
Cregor Elliot is one of the characters of Irish Motorsport. For quite a few years now, he has been shooting and commentating on his own inimitable coverage of Irish Formula Vee, amongst other things. This weeks video is an absolute cracker. During one of the early LMC Anglesey meetings, Cregor borrowed a moped to go down to turn one and film some action.... [Read more...]

Cregor was busy at the season opener.
The season opener from Mondello was unique in that the new Mondello.TV was launched; a new initiative that broadcast the racing live over the internet with Leo and Matt doing the commentary. Qualifying for most classes was held on Saturday afternoon leaving Sunday mostly free for racing, and almost all Irish classes made an appearance. I arrived just... [Read more...]

Another Early Start for Cregor- this time for Bishopscourt
McAulay leads the Vee pack en route to a popular victory. It was an early start for the weekends racing at Bishopscourt when I was picked up bleary eyed at 4.30am. A couple of hours and coffees later Brendan, Kevin and I arrived the County Down track where the Leastone crew were already set up and the kettle was on. Saturday morning was set aside for... Cregor and Con enjoyed their trip north!
Ah isn’t it just great that racing is back. This year saw a later start in the year than most recent times this is probably a good thing given the weather in Ireland the past few weeks. Con Connolly picked me up at 6am (I’d say bright and early but it was still dark) for the drive to Kirkistown that went through frost glistening fields and... [Read more...]

The longest short race ever!
The longest short race ever! Irish Formula Vee Race, Anglesey Wales, 4 July 2009 The Irish Vees visited Anglesey for a double header in July ’09 and Saturdays race was bizarre to say the least. Officially it was one of the shortest races I’ve ever seen while unofficially one of the longest due to rain, and incidents up at Radar corner. The... [Read more...]

Donington Park was a magical place to me
I could see the huge benefits of Youtube when it started in 2005 and was quick to sign up but was initially hampered by the length of time it took to process videos ( in ’05 it would take all night to process a short film), and dial up internet, which when thinking back I wonder how anything atall was uploaded to the internet as it was so slow. By... [Read more...]
