Hard to believe we’re already half way through the 2014 ITCC season and we are only in May! Last weekend saw the troops trek up to Bishopscourt for some flat out action. Everybody loves the circuit, and the track and grounds were in pristine condition on our arrival. Murray Motorsport had given the M3 something of a mini overhaul since the last... [Read more...]

It was this close all weekend! Image from autosportpics.com
Last year I did not have a spare minute to even think about writing a blog about my experience in the ITCC 2013 championship. A newly built car with a few issues required all of my time and attention! So I decided I would make an effort this year to give everyone a little insight as to how the little E46 saloon came about. This blog will provide... [Read more...]

The former showjumper leaps over the Kirkistown chicane! Image from Con Connolly.
Last weekend saw the ITCC return to Kirkistown for Round 7/8 of our championship. I have not been there for years, so it took a few laps to ‘keep it lit’ down through Debtors kink. The M3 is fairly travelling at that point, and it certainly seems a sharper corner than when I was in a Fiat Punto!! The tyres we were on were well knackered... [Read more...]

Well we are all getting used to the heat now, but racing the M3 in these conditions is like doing a workout in a sauna! Nevertheless, we learnt from the last day that the car was a handful in the heat so Murray´s put a lot of work in since the previous round to improve the car’s stability and it was immediately evident in Friday´s practice sessions.... Erik (right) grabs the lead as it all kicks off on the run to turn one. Image from Michael Chester. www.chester.ie Mondello saw round 5/6 of our Touring Car Championship take place in beautiful weather. It’s the first time I’ve driven the car in hotter weather, and to say it felt different is an understatement! There were a lot of improvements... [Read more...]

With the first 2 race meetings now completed, the 2013 ITCC season is well up and running. Having missed Bishopscourt last year, I was looking forward to what I knew was a great circuit. It didn’t disappoint, with proper fast corners which are rare on race circuits in Ireland. It was great to see more cars out as well, with a decent grid of ITCC... [Read more...]

The ITCC kicks off this weekend at Mondello Park and Holstein's M3 should be a frontrunner.
The M3 has been on a diet and should be even quicker in 2013! Former showjumper Erik Holstein returns to the Irish Touring Car Championship this weekend with his BMW M3, which he debuted in the last two ITCC events of 2012. The car has been to weight watchers over the winter and is now sporting some very well finished, light weight fiberglass panels... [Read more...]

ITCC's Brian Sexton had Orla Miller on hand to help launch the 2013 Championship
Last Friday, in the Naas Court Hotel (fast becoming THE venue for Motorsport launches), The Irish Touring Car Championship officially launched their 2013 campaign and also made some interesting announcements. They announced that Yokohama would continue to partner the championship this year with Murray Motorsport as the official tyre supplier. Benefits... [Read more...]
