Avanti's Kevin Grogan has been a frontrunner all year and took his first A race win at Kirkistown with style. Image from Con Connolly.
With Adam Macaulay already crowned the Crowne Plaza National Formula Vee Champion, the final round at Kirkistown was to be a race purely for glory and bragging rights. Pre-race testing saw most of the contenders suffering minor issues but at the end of the day, Newsome Racing’s Adam Macaulay and David O’Brien along with AvantiSport’s Kevin Grogan,... [Read more...]

Rounds 9 and 10 of the Crowne Plaza National Formula Vee Championship at Mondello Park International were always going to be about championship contenders Adam Macaulay and Ray Moore but it was Trevor Delaney who stole the spoils in qualifying with a blistering lap to put him on pole by 0.8secs from Macaulay with Moore in third. This is the view Adam hopes to show Ray Moore at the championship decider in just over a weeks time. Image from JayTee Photographic.
It felt great to have a race weekend coming up again. Seven weeks was too long a break between rounds but it did at least give me the opportunity to recoup some funds. The festival had sort of finished on a high for me, even though I was second in the final and the championship round had been a disaster. I had the momentum again after seeing Ray obliterate... Erik Holstein and Murray Motorsport have already wrapped up the 2013 ITCC series!
It is almost the time of year where the radio stations start playing those depressing “Back to School” ads. They depressed me as a kid for obvious reasons and nowadays they just remind me that we are well into the second half of the motor racing season. Most of the titles are still up for grabs as I type this, the exception being the ITCC-... [Read more...]

The experienced Moore returned to form at the Vee Festival meeting.
After a few bad weekends, Ray Moore bounced back to the top step of the podium with a lights to flag victory in his Bernard Dolan Racing Leastone at round 7 of the Crowne Plaza National Formula Vee Championship at Mondello Park. Moore’s run of bad luck seems to have been passed to championship rivals Adam Macauley and Dan Polley, both having DNF’s... [Read more...]

Circuit founder Stuart Cosgrave was as entertaining as ever at the Saturday night event! Image from JayTee Photographic
The Mondello 45 was just one of those meetings- the weather was beautiful, the racing was close and the fans who turned up got a packed day of action. On the Saturday night, John Morris gave a tour of the Mondello Museum of Motorsport to a large crowd, in fact there was a queue around much of the walkway for the duration. Afterwards, the crowd walked... [Read more...]

A win at the Mondello 45 Meeting put Adam firmly at the top of the Crowne Plaza Vee title chase.
After three fantastic rounds of the 2013 Vee Championship up north in Bishopscourt and Kirkistown, we were back out in Mondello for the second time in 2013 for the Mondello 45 meeting. After a steady but solid start to the season my championship challenge had come alive in Bishopscourt where I managed finally (after seven seasons!) to get pole and win... [Read more...]

Cregor was impressed with Mondello's Corporate Menu!
The sun shone brightly and the weather was as hot as the on track action for the 45th birthday of Mondello Park recently. The packed racecard was again broadcast live on the internet via Mondello.TV, hopefully this will become a regular feature of car racing in Ireland. I arrived just before 10 where qualifying was well underway and after changing into... [Read more...]

“Winning takes talent, to repeat it takes character” and so Adam Macauley showed real character in winning once again at Round 6 of the Crowne Plaza National Formula Vee Championship held at Mondello Park. Having not won in his previous six seasons, Macauley has now won three out of the last four races this season to take a healthy lead in the championship. With... [Read more...]
