McGovern leads a group of Fiestas as the heavens open. Image from a very wet Michael Chester.
Lashing, pouring, pi$$ing, call it what you like but it’s a long time since Mondello Park experienced rain like that. It was on and off all day but when it eventually let go, during the Patch Fiesta Qualifier, it was as if someone had angered the gods. The sheets of rain were of biblical proportions and within a minute or two, the track was completely... [Read more...]

The various championships have begun to take shape and in some cases it is a case of business as usual with the 2013 Champions looking to set to repeat the result in 2014. Erik Holstein,... Jim Hutcheson's Spaceframe Mk 1 Escort had a great scrap with Connaire Finn's Ginetta.
It’s unusual to be making only the first trip of the year to Kirkistown at the end of June but that’s the way the calendar worked out this year so on the longest day of the year I was headed north. Having been unable to secure a lift on the Saturday morning it was out with the bike for a 7am start. Good time was made despite a stop for fuel near... [Read more...]

WRC Driver Rob Barrable won a hard fought Festival & with it the prestigious Vivion Daly Memorial Trophy.
What a brilliant weekends racing as the Formula Ford Festival was revived in Mondello with a trophy named after one of the all-time greats of Irish motorsport; Vivian Daly. I grew up watching Vivian racing Ffords and Opels and can still remember his 2FM, Abrakebabra, and XtraVision sponsored cars racing for wins at Mondello and Phoenix Park. I sat on... [Read more...]
