It’s been about two years since I’ve driven a Formula Sheane but last week Motorsport.ie’s Leo Nulty approached me and asked would I be interested in driving his Formula Sheane at the weekend at the Dunlop Formula Vee Festival. So as usual with last minute things it was a bit of a rush on Friday morning before testing we had to change... [Read more...]

Coming into this weekend we were confident, having had a strong performance in Kirkistown the previous week after a long 10 week absence from the seat- unlike most of the drivers on the FF1600 grid. Still trying to gain back lost seat time this season! With the Champion of Mondello series continuing on, we had round 3&4 on Saturday with qualifying... [Read more...]

Sean in his FF1600 Race Car.
This season I am supported by Nissan Ireland in their Nissan Generation Next program. This program is to help driven individuals with big plans for the future. I was selected as a part of the program after Nissan Ireland had a corporate week in Mondello Park late in 2012. As a driving instructor in Mondello, I drove the very exciting Nissan Juke-R... Autosportpics.com were one of the many photographers who captured the frightening accident in race one!
Going into this weekend I had a good feeling about it. With the first race weekend of the 2014 Champion of Mondello series for FF1600 just over it was for sure a real character building one! I’ll get to that in a minute. On Saturday I only went out for a couple of sessions just to give the car a check over and make sure all was ok for race day. With... [Read more...]

Going into this weekend, the Leinster Trophy at Mondello park it was very close in the FF1600 championship standings with only nine points separating fourth place and second! Coming into the Dunlop Formula Vee Festival, we could see it was going to be a warm one, and a warm one it was. With testing on the Friday, racing Saturday and Sunday there was a lot of mileage to be racked up over the weekend. We worked on the setup Friday during testing ahead of the warm weekend. I woke up Saturday morning to lovely warm weather and... [Read more...]

This weekend is the very popular Formula Vee Festival at Mondello Park. Last year it was a great event with loads of activities for the family. This weekend will be no different with a BBQ on Saturday evening, a charity auction in the bar and there will be lots of fun for all the family during the two day event. As you may know I will be out in the... [Read more...]

My Van Diemen at speed. Image from Cregornews.com
After a year break of being at the fabulous Bishopscourt race circuit it was again time to head up to the Co.Down circuit. I headed up Friday afternoon in my Nissan Juke supplied by Nissan Ireland (very economical- the 1.5dci Puredrive engine is brilliant.) On Saturday morning we had two 15 minutes sessions to get with the grips of the track once... [Read more...]

Pushing hard in the MCP Van Diemen
For 2013 I am moving to FF1600. This is the class that many F1 drivers started their careers in over the years and the Irish scene is known to be top class. I am running with Morgan Dempsey in his MCP Van Diemen which I used at the FF Festival in Brands Hatch last year, and loved! The season kicked off last week at Kirkistown, on the Ards peninsula...
