Venturini joins Cullen and Weckstrom in Status GP Estoril GP3 test line-up

November 6, 2012 by Status Grand Prix

Italian Giovanni Venturini will join Miki Weckstrom and Ryan Cullen in Status Grand Prix’s line-up for this week’s two days of GP3 Series post-season testing at the Estoril circuit.

The two days of running at the Portuguese circuit will represent the first time that Venturini, who twice finished on the podium this season with Trident Racing, has worked with Status GP. The 20-year-old completed the first of the two GP3 post-season tests, at Jerez, with Lotus GP.

Finn Weckstrom, a graduate of Formula Renault 2.0, and British Formula Ford Championship racer Cullen will continue the work they started with Status GP at Jerez.

The test runs for two days, over Tuesday 6th November and Wednesday 7th November, and represents the final time that the first-generation GP3 car runs in anger before the new-for-2013 400bhp racer takes to the tracks in 2013.

Giovanni Venturini joins Status GP for Estoril

Giovanni Venturini:
“For sure it’s an honour to be here with Status, and I think it will be a good test. The forecast for the two days is sunny so I think it will be fun and we can get some good work done. We are trying everything we can to race in GP3 next season – as usual it is all about finding the budget to race. I’m looking forward to this as it will be my first time with a team based in Britain.”

Miki Weckstrom:
“The weather was frustrating at Jerez, so I am glad I am doing both tests with Status GP because it has given me time to ‘breathe’ with the team. I’m positive after Jerez and really looking forward to getting into the car again.”

Ryan Cullen is looking to increase his mileage

Ryan Cullen:
“I came on a lot over the two days at Jerez and learned a lot about myself as a driver and the GP3 car. I didn’t get as much dry running as I would like but I got a good idea of where I should be and I can’t wait to drive at Estoril.”
