VIDEO- Ritmo Action from 1994

April 4, 2014 by Leo Nulty

By 1994 a number of drivers had closed the gap to the formerly dominant Alan Johnston in the one make Ritmo Challenge. He usually crossed the line ahead, but the margin was a lot smaller than before and often he had a major scrap on his hands. This is one of those occasions as Alan Byrne, sponsored by Anglo(!), chases him down and the pair battle it out to the flag. The Ritmos used the same “Lampredi”1290cc sohc engine as the older 128 3P and Coupe variants. Lightened and balanced, and running a twin choke carb, they would happily rev to 8,000rpm and produced just over 90bhp if you got a good one!
